This writer’s jaw dropped when he saw Fox News quoting Mitt Romney, speaking to a number of presumably anti-Castro Cuban expatriates in the final days before Tuesday’s Florida GOP primary:
“If I’m fortunate to become the next president of the United States it is my expectation that Fidel Castro will finally be taken off this planet,” Romney said to emphatic applause from the crowd of 500 gathered at the Magic City’s landmark building, the Freedom Tower. “I doubt he’ll take any time in the sky. He’ll find a nether region to be more to his comfort.”
Those with a background in Christian doctrine will also note that the supposedly devout Romney, in addition to appearing to promise to break the sixth commandment, also was unafraid to indulge in the blasphemy of predicting another’s damnation.
